HOW CAN YOU HELP
There are several ways that you can help! In addition to making a donation to rescue, it’s important to remember that AMCUK Rescue is run completely by volunteers and is therefore a total team effort. If you feel you can help out in any of these areas, get in touch!
We’ll add you to our database of Malamute resources.
If you are interested in fostering for us, please complete and return the Foster Application form and we will be in touch. (CLick here)
We are looking for foster homes in all areas. When dogs come into rescue, we have to assess them to find out what home will suit them best. We ask questions of the previous owners to determine that the dog is not aggressive but they often come with other problems such as separation anxiety or lack of training. Foster homes will ideally be familiar with the breed, have the time to assess the dog properly, be able to offer basic training for manners, take the dog to vet appointments etc and have the facility to keep the foster dog separate from their own dogs if necessary. We are able to offer fostering expenses, travel expenses and we pay all veterinary costs whilst the dog is in the care of a foster home.
To ensure we get the best match of dog to home, we need experienced people who are willing to go to people’s homes to meet families looking to adopt a Malamute and carry out a thorough home check. This involves checking that garden boundaries are secure, that the house is suitable for re-homing a Malamute and chatting with the family to remind them of initial problems they may have when a rescue dog arrives with them. Home Checkers should be familiar with the breed and be confident enough to point out potential problems and suggest solutions. We are able to offer mileage expenses to people willing to home check.
We are always looking for people who are willing to transport dogs. This can involve collecting a dog from a home and completing paperwork for signing the dog into rescue, travelling as a part of a relay to take a dog to a foster home, or taking a dog in rescue to its new forever home and dealing with contracts and donations. All we ask is that you have a suitable vehicle for transporting a Malamute safely using an appropriate restraint such as a crate or boot guard, bearing in mind that the dog may not be used to travelling. We are able to offer mileage expenses to people for transporting dogs
Walking the Rescue Malamutes
Can you help walk a rescue dog by helping with their exercise regime? If so get in touch at for details on how to gain more information.
Other ways you can help
Here is an example of how you can help AMCUK Rescue.....
Sarah Dawson is on our mailing list for rescue updates and she also receives our Dogs available leaflets...Sarah has kindly arranged for the leaflets to be pinned on her work's notice board and as she works in a vets practice, well this is even better for catching the eye of dog owners!
Are you a veterinarian who could donate a spay or neuter surgery, or provide vaccinations for a rescue Malamute?
Perhaps you’re a dog trainer who’s willing to provide concessions to new Rescue adopters who bring their dogs to obedience or Agility classes?
You could be a boarding kennel willing to donate a few nights’ lodging and TLC to save a Malamute who needs respite or dire care?
Maybe you're an experienced Malamute kennel interested in long-term contractual foster care?
Perhaps you work in, or own, a pet shop and are willing to donate some food or other items?
Are you a professional or keen amateur photographer who would be willing to travel locally to take photographs of dogs waiting for rehome and help us to portray them at their best?
Whatever it is, there’s probably a way we can use it to help with fund-raising or caring for rescue Malamutes!
