Wax Off 2012 ...The pain team!!

Some friendly banter around the show ring during the Autumn hatched a cunning plan a ’WAX OFF’   the brain child of  Malamute handler Lisa Bridges, Malamute Judge Jo Sugden, exhibitor Emma Edwards & Sarah Towers :)

Three victims  … oops I mean volunteers were recruited Simon Molloy, Wayne Mort & Neil Partridge-Bebb. Together with their partners ‘The Pain Team’ emerged & a busy 6 weeks followed.

Sarah Towers did adverts and the whole of the Malamute community, and many people involved in other breeds, friends, family & workmates, were approached to sponsor the event. The team were totally overwhelmed at the generosity of these people as the figure rose so did their enthusiasm.

The venue was to be LKA Championship show at the NEC. The guys were firstly trimmed by Lisa. The boys  had a ‘little Dutch courage’, and then the  moment they were dreading,  spectators started to gather &  were given the waxing strips to warm in their hands and  the first strip was executed much to the amusement of the females in the audience.

The trim down done by Lisa Bridges....

First some helpers to get the wax stripes nice and warm "Rub rub rub"......

On to the waxing......

Screams of pain from the boys and laughter and fits of giggles from the girls followed as the redness of their buff chests emerged.

All the fun seemed to be over far too quickly and the team beaming with pride revealed they had raised over £2000,   Yes you haven’t miss read that :) all for malamute rescue.

Simon Molloy up first!

Next up Wayne Mort

Last up Neil Partridge-Bebb!

The proud men showing off their clean hairless chests!

Left to right Lisa, Neil, Simon, Wayne, Lisa, Emma, Sarah & Jo :)

Many thanks to Lisa Mort & Jo Sugden for the great pictures on capturing the event!
